Roadworks ahead

I would like to comment on this so-called gateway to Pershore!

Why is it being described as this when Pershore quite clearly starts at the top of Allesborough Hill?

The last thing this town needs are more empty retail units - don't we have enough already? Any 3 storey development will be completely uncharacteristic in that part of town where it is surrounded by 2 storey town cottages. Unless, of course, they are trying to tie it in with the block of flats which are hardly an attractive feature.

Most importantly, let us not forget that if this scheme gets the go-ahead we will have more roadworks in this town on top of the ones that we've all had to suffer for the past 3 months! After all, if they close the petrol filling station then they will need to carefully remove the petrol tanks etc. Then they will need to put in the required services to the site and so either the road to the main car park or the High Street will once again be affected. As somebody who lives on Allesborough Hill and works on Evesham Vale retail park, I've had the nightmare of negotiating these roadworks.

Why does the council seem hell-bent on killing off our trade with more interruptions. Leave our High Street alone. You've done enough damage already!

Very well said Moira and I, along with many others are in total agreement with you. It is about time that the people who actually live in Pershore are given the full opportunity to be heard, instead of handpicked 'groups' who in many cases do not seem to have the least connection with what the council are asking them!

If councillors who live in Throckmorton, Elmley Castle, or wherever else want all this disruption and their bit of 'glory' then let them rip up their own towns and villages and leave ours alone!
