COMMON sense - a quality more apparent in ordinary thinking folk, but not always seen within politics - the science of expediency, according to cynics; has completely vindicated experienced journalist, editor and successful manager, thinking politician, as yet one of the finest Conservatives yet to be elected to Westminster.

Now, Nigel Hastilow has the support for his eminently sensible policies, from The House of Lords Economics Affairs Committee. He should be on the A' List of prospective parliamentary candidates, as a matter of critical importance to the future of our nation.

Brigadier The Rt Honourable J Enoch Powell, MBE, (late Royal Warwickshire Regiment), was not a racist. A professor of classics at the age of 23, Enoch Powell quoted from the classics in his so-called Rivers of Blood speech. people seized on his remarks, for reasons best known to themselves, denying him the leadership of the Conservative party, that this politician of integrity deserved. Brigadier Powell was a Christian gentleman, the proof of this being apparent to those of all political persuasions attending his funeral at St Mary's, Warwick. Tomorrow's England should be a best-seller.

TOM WAREING, Ex-Sergeant RE and TA Lieutenant, Retired County Councillor, Plymouth Close, Headless Cross, Redditch.
