75 Years Ago December 10, 1932 THE committee of the Evesham Hospital Cup Competition met at Fenton's Vaults on Tuesday evening to inquire into the happenings of the match last Saturday between Broadway Athletic and Littleton. The referee reported that with the score at 3-3 he awarded a penalty to Littleton from which a goal was scored. Immediately pandemonium reigned and about 150 spectators surged on to the ground and surrounded the referee who was powerless and had no option but to abandon the game. Both Broadway and Littleton representatives spoke well of the referee's handling of the game. The committee ordered the game to be replayed at Littleton, the same referee, Mr F Taylor, to have charge.

Speaking at the guild's first annual dinner held at the Avon Bridge Cafe, Mrs Beckley said she thought it was most necessary for women to have other interests outside the home - because then they were better company for their husbands and families - and the Townswomen's Guild provided just the facilities that were needed.
