A WORCESTERSHIRE builder has so far raised £715 as part of his journey from Acorns to Ayers’ Rock to raise money for a Worcester hospice.

Ed Walker, aged 36, from Drakes Broughton, near Pershore, is currently in Frenchs Forest, a suburb of Sydney. Mr Walker is funding the £16,000 journey himself, so every penny raised is donated to Acorns.

The former Pershore High School pupil said: “I’ve always had the ambition to travel around the world so thought of this solo challenging drive and wanted to support Acorns as my local charity.”

Acorns’ community fund-raiser Mandie Fitzgerald, who saw him off last month, said: “His solo ‘Acorns to Ayers’ Rock’ sponsored journey will raise vital funds to help Acorns look after 207 local life-limited children.”
