A SERVICE celebrating the hard work of NHS residents in Worcestershire is being held later this month and everyone is invited to join in the event.

Residents from all over Worcestershire are being invited to the showcase event, which is one of a series of celebrations being held throughout September to show appreciation for NHS staff.

It will be led by the Bishop of Worcester, the Right Rev Dr John Inge, and is set to take place at 2pm on Sunday, September 28.

The event will begin in style, with a procession of NHS staff and dignitaries through the city centre at 1.30pm, before a congregation will come together in a service of thanks to recognise and appreciate all NHS staff in the county.

Harry Turner, chairman of Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust, said: "My main ambition, amongst other things, is that we engage with and take every opportunity to recognise the excellent work done by our staff. I know there are many people who share my sentiments and will want to show their support and appreciation for their local NHS services.

"I know that the service is going to be a fantastic celebration and I urge people to come along and share what promises to be a very memorable day."

Further events, celebrating the achievements of staff working at the Alexandra Hospital in Redditch, Kidderminster Hospital and Treatment Centre and Worcestershire Royal Hospital, will also be held during the course of the week in the form of a Long Service Ceremony recognising those with 25 years or more service, a staff appreciation day, and the Trust’s annual Staff Achievement Awards.

Tickets for the Service of Celebration are available by emailing celebration@worcsacute.nhs.uk or by calling 01905 733960.
