WHY a Foodbank in Malvern? is the title of the first of a series of public debates organised by Lansdowne Methodist Church.

The event is next Saturday, October 25, and will feature MP Hariett Baldwin, Labour parliamentary candidate Daniel Walton and James Milton from the Trussell Trust and Malvern Foodbank.

Chairing the debate will be Rev David Haslam MBE, a Methodist minister with wide experience in social affairs, and there will be the opportunity for members of the public to put questions to the panel.

The Lansdowne Methodist Church council recently decided to promote a new public forum for debate of topical issues affecting Malvern and the surrounding region.

Topics to be discussed in future debates include affordable housing, the NHS, care of the elderly and youth unemployment.

Admission to the debate is free, and light refreshments will be provided, but organisers would like prospective participants to register their intention to attend at foodbankinmalvern.eventbrite.co.uk , so they can gauge the level of interest.
