FAMILIAR images of Malvern's heritage appear in the town's latest public artworks - a set of four colourful mosaics at the Malvern Cube community centre.

The mosaics were created in a collaboration involving Malvern mosaic artist Victoria Harrison, the Onside art group, based at the Cube, and the Garage art group, which helps people with mental health problems and special needs through art.

Group members spent the last 12 months creating the mosaic panels which have now been installed near the entrance to the Cube in Albert Road North.

The mosaics contain images of the hills, a Morgan car, the Priory Park bandstand and the clock tower in North Malvern, and references to the town's technological heritage and Elgar's music.

“I’m really passionate about working with local groups, charities and organisations to inspire creativity and help make a difference through voluntary community projects such as this one,” said Ms Harrison, of Living Mosaics.

“The project, which was funded with the help of Worcestershire County Council, has been a real labour of love for everybody involved.

"It’s been a collaborative effort from deciding which aspects of Malvern to depict, to selecting the location and materials. We’re really proud of the finishing product and hope local residents get as much pleasure out of viewing them as we did creating them.

“I’d also like to say a special thank you to David Hope, Andrew Butler and Dave Perkins, who helped install the mosaic panels. It’s been a real team effort.”
