SEVEN youngsters who successfully auditioned to get into Worcester Operatic and Dramatic Society's Youth Section are looking forward to another audition - this time for parts in the summer musical Annie.

They were among about 45 youngsters who sang and danced in a bid to join the group.

The second audition will follow the series of workshops in stagecraft that the newcomers and established members are currently enjoying.

David Humphries, WODYS chairman and producer, said: “The audition panel was impressed by the standard across the complete age range and I want to thank everyone for auditioning and their parents and relatives for supporting them.

"I am really sorry that we cannot take any more but we are up to the full membership in WODYS for Annie, our next show.

"We had such a high standard of auditions that it made the decision very difficult, but we hope that the people who were unsuccessful this year will join WODAC, our academy, where they will receive tuition in singing, dancing and drama.”

The successful auditionees were Daisy Gough, Elizabeth Khogali, Greta Semczyszyn, Mia Cashion, Rebecca Hitchings, Phoebe Sinnassamy and Emma Fradgley.

There were more than 80 youngsters on WODYS’ waiting list this autumn.

The successful youngsters will now audition for parts in Annie in the new year, along with the group's existing members.

There will be 70 eight to 18 year olds in the show which is on at the Swan Theatre, from Tuesday, August 4 to Saturday 8 next year.
