PLANS to introduce a residents' permit parking scheme at Waterside in Upton have been endorsed this week by Malvern Hills District Council.
On Tuesday, the council's executive committee agreed to a request by Worcestershire County Council to set an annual tariff of £40 for the permits.
The scheme, which has the backing of Upton's town council, is intended to alleviate problems suffered by local residents who find it difficult to park outside their own homes.
The county council is proposing to make Waterside from the King's Head to Church Street one way with yellow lines and six parking bays for residents only.
The district council's civil enforcement officers will have the power to issue parking tickets to non-permit holders parked in this area.
The proposals are going out for public consultation, and if no objections are received, the new arrangement could be put in place early next year.
