POLICE are looking for the owner of a badly injured dog which was found beside a road neat Great Witley on Wednesday afternoon.

Officers found the springer spaniel beside the B4197 on the Great Witley end of Martley Hillside, at about 4.30pm and immediately took him to Teme Vets in Tenbury for treatment.

The vets found the dog's injuries were not consistent with being hit by a car, but he has suffered a deep cut that looks to have been caused by getting caught in barbed wire.

Unfortunately the dog has not been microchipped and has no collar.

PC Paul Lambon said: "We are very keen to reunite this dog with his owner. It's possible that he is a working dog that got separated from a shoot in the Great Witley and Martley area."

Anyone with information can contact Teme Vets on 01584 872147.
