A LONG-serving member of Malvern Hills District Council has died in hospital.
John Tretheway represented the Wells ward for many years before his retirement in 2007, and he served as the council's chairman in 1996/7.
Mr Tretheway was also a member of the board of Malvern Hills Conservators for many years and served on Malvern Wells Parish Council.
He died peacefully in hospital, and a funeral service is taking place tomorrow (Thursday, May 28) at Little Malvern Priory at 11.30am.
Tom Wells, leader of the Lib Dem group, which Mr Tretheway belonged to, said: "John was an exemplary councillor serving the people of Malvern Wells with distinction for many years. His abilities were also recognised by his fellow councillors and he served as council chairman in 1995."
