A WEEK of events celebrating hard-working NHS staff in Worcestershire is to be held in September.

The week will kick off on Sunday, September 20 with a procession of health staff and dignitaries through the centre of Worcester before a service of celebration at the Cathedral.

A range of other events will also be held throughout the week arranged by Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NSH Trust, including a staff appreciation day and long service awards.

Chairman of the trust, which runs Worcestershire Royal Hospital, Kidderminster Hospital and Redditch’s Alexandra Hospital, Harry Turner said: “It’s been a tough year for NHS staff, but that’s why it’s more important than ever to engage with and take every opportunity to recognise the excellent work done by them, day in, day out to care for the people of this county.

“It’s an opportunity for the whole county to come together and celebrate everything that’s good about the NHS.

“We’ve achieved so much this year - with the new additions of the Oncology Centre, Meadow Birth Centre and the modular operating theatre at the Alexandra Hospital as well as work getting underway on the county’s new Breast Unit we have much to appreciate.

“I hope everyone across the county is able to take part in some way.”
