AN injured cat has gone missing after escaping his cat basket just before he was taken from one Malvern vets to another for treatment.

Freddie, a five-year-old black and white cat, slipped out of his cat basket while he was being transported from White House Vets in Newtown Road, Malvern to Hill Avenue Vets to the Avenue Veterinary Centre after he broke his back leg.

The vets have told the family he was in his basket at the vets, ready to be transported for treatment, when he ran away.

White House Vets is now offering a £50 reward for Freddie's safe return.

He is black and white with a white patch on his face, four white paws and a white tummy.

He is described as a timid and slim cat and his owners believe he is likely to be walking on three legs.

At the time the basket, which has two zips on it, was believed to be secure but it is possible that he wriggled through a small gap.

He was last seen a neighbour's garden.

Owner Sharon Richards of Moatway, Malvern said: "We have been out looking for him and we have had lots of neighbours looking for him. The vets have put leaflets through the neighbours' doors. They're going to put some posters out and extend their leaflet drop.

"He's quite a nervous cat. I'm devastated. He's my daughter Katie's cat. Freddie has a sister, Milly and she is pining for him and not eating. They have never been apart."
