WORCESTERSHIRE'S new police and crime commissioner has started work on a new victim's charter.

John Campion has begun the task of delivering one of his key election pledges – a new victim’s charter for West Mercia, which he is inviting people to help shape.

The charter will make it clear exactly what support and services people across West Mercia can expect should they become a victim of crime.

Today (Wednesday), the commissioner is starting a consultation exercise, inviting people to share their opinions and experiences, to help make sure the new charter reflects our communities’ most important priorities.

John Campion said: “I promised a new victim’s charter within 100 days of being elected, and I am delivering that promise.

“We have some good victim services available, but we can do more, and I want to ensure that people consistently get the right help at the right time”.

“The charter will help make sure that the best support available becomes the standard victims receive every time. We have to do everything possible to help people cope and recover, to get on with living their lives."

The consultation is open until the end of July, and is available via the PCC’s website – www.westmercia-pcc.gov.uk
