CHILDREN in Worcester are being offered a chance to showcase their artistic talents.

Youngsters aged 11-16 have the opportunity to help create a show for this year's Worcester Festival during a three-day academy taking place from Monday, August 15 until Wednesday, August 17.

The project is being run by Caged Arts and Worcester Arts Workshop and aims to bring children together from different forms of art, from painting to ballroom dancing.

Rory McGhie, arts engagement officer at Caged Arts said: "It’s about putting children at the centre of the creative process allowing them to make art that’s about the things that they care about.

"What’s so exciting about this project is that we don’t know what’s going to happen. It depends who walks into that room."

The workshops will run from 11am to 4pm daily and are open to young people of any skill level. Tickets cost £30 for all three days, including tickets for parents and friends to view the final product, and are available from Huntington Hall on 01905 611427.

This year's Worcester Festival runs from Saturday, AUgust 15 until Monday, August 31.
