POLICE officers, staff and volunteers have been recognised for their service to the force.

Thirty-seven police officers received long service and good conduct medals, four members of staff received certificates of service and three members of the Special Constabulary received long service medals at a ceremony at Hindlip Hall.

The following officers received long service and good conduct medals: Inspector Russell Barker, PC Lee Barton, DC Sarah Beales, Inspector Tanya Beckett, Sergeant Brian Berry, Sergeant Steve Burrows, Inspector Mark Chappell, Sergeant Stephen Clark, Inspector Richard Congrave, PC Tina Cowan, Inspector Jerry Coyd, DCI Melanie Crowther, Temporary Chief Insp James Dunn, Detective Inspector Jason Everett, Temporary Detective Sergeant Alex Farmer, Sergeant Dave Grindley, DC Kerry Hickman, Detective Sergeant James Hopkins, Detective Inspector Peter Jones, Detective Inspector Gavin Kinrade, PC Stuart Lippitt, DC Terry Markovics, PC Colin Martin, Detective Sergeant Natalie Martin, PC Iain McLaren, Detective Sergeant David Meyer, DC Ruth Normandin, DC Elizabeth Northcott, PC Gary Otun, PC Susan Parr, Sergeant Chris Parry, DC Maxine Rawlins, DC Joanne Sanders, Sergeant Andrew Spencer, Detective Sergeant Kate Stevens, PC Sian Stockton and Detective Sergeant Dave Winter.

The awards were presented by the Lord Lieutenant of Herefordshire, the Countess of Darnley, watched by Chief Constable Anthony Bangham, Temporary Deputy Chief Constable Chris Singer, and police and crime commissioner John Campion on Monday, October 3.

Police staff who have completed 20 years unbroken police service received a framed certificate of service.

They were Theresa Cooper (finance assistant), Susan Dixon (OCC controller), Jill Edger (OCC controller) and Jeremy Leyton (OCC supervisor).

Special Constabulary Long Service Medals are awarded after nine years service, with an additional long service bar awarded after a further ten years service.

They went to Special Constable Julieanna Barker, Special Constable Michelle Bennet and Special Constable Chris Francis.

Chief Constable Anthony Bangham said: "Their medals and certificates recognise many years of exemplary service in one of the most complex and demanding areas of public service and I would like to congratulate everyone and thank them for their dedication."

Police and Crime Commissioner John Campion said "On behalf of the residents of West Mercia, I would like to thank those who devoted their careers to serving the public.

"The commitment of all of officers, including those who volunteer their time as specials, is what keeps our communities safe."
