A WORCESTER charity shop is appealing for more volunteers to help out.

The Worcester and District branch of Cats Protection has recently appointed a new assistant manager and now needs more pairs of hands, especially at weekends.

A variety of different job roles are on offer, from serving on the till to sorting out stock in the back room.

Karen Ingleby, assistant shop manager, said: "We are looking to expand our volunteer workforce at the shop and are looking for keen and able people, young and old alike, who would like to join our team.

"You can learn a variety of skills while working in a very friendly and happy environment. The main days we require help are on Saturday, Sunday and Monday, but whatever day you can spare will be a great help to us.

"There really is something for everyone. No two days are the same as we get different donations every day so we have to work quickly with the stock and turn it into money for the cats."

Karen, who was a cat fosterer and volunteered at her local Cats Protection shop before taking on her new role, is encouraging people to come for taster sessions to see what happens behind the scenes.

She said: "There is a lot going on that people don't realise, from sorting the stock to preparing it for the shop floor.

"I'm a cat lover who has always been very passionate about the health and welfare of cats.

"I was very excited to be offered this role as the more we can expand the shop, the more we can help the local cats, which is what it's all about.

"Please visit us and see if you can help by volunteering, donating or just buying an item of clothing - it all goes towards helping the many cats in need."

Anyone interested should pop into the Cats Protection shop at 59-61 St Johns, Worcester, WR2 5AG and have an informal chat, where you can fill in a volunteer application form.
