THEY are one of the features of the Malvern Hills, the benches where weary ramblers can rest their tired legs and drink in the views across the Severn plain towards the Cotswolds, or alternatively the westward vistas towards the mountains of Wales.
Some of them are wood and some metal, but all of them offer that chance to relax and listen to the birdsong and enjoy a flask of tea or a sandwich from one’s pack.
Keen walker Susie Cunningham has been taking pictures of them.
She said: “I walk on the hills most days, usually with my sister and our dogs.
“I never leave the house without a camera. There’s always something beautiful to photograph.
“The bench idea just came to me one day while going through my photos and realising just how many bench photos I had taken that day. After I posted them to the Malvern Hills Shared group on Facebook, people seemed to like the idea so now I tend to take bench photos most days.
“My favourite so far is the bench in the mist which was taken while on a very early morning jaunt.”
