Jake heads for home straight of his 2,012km Olympic tour
11:20am Thursday 12th July 2012 in Evesham
A 12-YEAR-OLD boy riding to every Olympic venue for charity has the home straight in his sights.
Jake Phipps of Kersoe, near Elmley Castle, is visiting every Olympic venue from Glasgow to London during his fiveweek trip and is now at the halfway point in his 2,012km journey.
He said: “It’s been a fantastic experience so far and we’ve met some amazing people.
“I’ve really enjoyed being out on the road, although it’s very hard work at times.”
He set off on his trip on Friday, June 22, from Glasgow in Scotland, and reaches the finishing line at the Olympic Stadium on Wednesday July 18.
Jake is being sponsored by Hornby Hobbies, which is donating £1,000 to his chosen charities Action for Children and Access Sport.
He has also been collecting sponsorship as he goes, hosting talks at schools about his challenge, and has even met Olympian Sir Steve Redgrave.
Jake, whose itinerary includes a visit to the Vale of Evesham, has been accompanied by mum Nic Phipps and family friend Philip Woods.
