THIS picture shows the hard working volunteers who have been laying track over the collapsed embankment on the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway.

The Journal reported last week that the vital project to repair the collapsed ‘Chicken Curve’ and reconnect the severed heritage railway just north of Winchcombe station has almost been completed.

Work to reconnect the two separate halves, which were severed in a collapse in January last year, should be finished in the next couple of months.

A £1 million appeal to fund the repair work was launched by record producer Pete Waterman in 2010 and has almost reached its target, with just £24,000 left to go.
