Stroke group's celebration

MEMBERS of Evesham’s Stroke Club enjoyed a visit from some special guests at their annual garden party.

A group of nearly 30 members attended the party held in the garden of former group chairman Margaret Whitefield, in Hampton.

Mayor of Evesham Coun Robert Raphael and the mayoress Diana dropped in on the gathering and enjoyed a slice of cake.

Mrs Whitefield said the annual get-together started four years ago and was a good social event as well as a way of making people aware about the illness. “It’s nice to make people aware of strokes – it’s such a debilitating illness,” she said. “There’s never two the same.”

The group meets on the first and third Tuesday of the month from 10am to noon at the Red Cross Centre, Briar Close, and offers support for stroke victims and their families.

New members are always welcome.
