HUNDREDS of people turned out to join in Wick’s annual village fete on Saturday.

The sun shone on the event, which raised £4,700 for St Mary’s Church.

This year the fete, which attracted about 700 people, was opened by guitar virtuoso Robert Fripp.

There was also entertainment from local band Wyred Up, plus Tyro the Magician, a display of classic vehicles and Harley Davidson motorcycles, a dog show, teas in the manor grounds, a real ale tent and barbecue and a variety of stalls.

Martin Williams, one of the organisers, said: “It was a fun day both for all who attended and for everyone in the village who worked so hard to make the fete a success.”
