WITH the next stage of X Factor set to hit our screens this weekend, Worcester hopeful Gathan Cheema could still be in with a chance of hitting the big time.
After making it through three tough auditions as well as singing live in front of the judges, the 22-year-old, of Tolladine Road, is now at bootcamp to fight it out for a place at the judges’ houses.
About 300 hopefuls will be whittled down on tonight’s show with the final cut being made tomorrow night.
The talent show has been a whirlwind for the Michael Jackson tribute singer, who has already been paid a visit by pop star Olly Murs, who came to Worcester to interview him for the ITV2 spin-off show Xtra Factor.
“I’ve massively enjoyed it,” said Gathan.
“I’ve met some incredible people who I still keep in touch with. It’s great I’ve been a part of it.
“Bootcamp was super intense. I just can’t wait to see what happens on the show.”
Gathan was tipped by
Gary Barlow in his audition as the “dark horse” of the competition after he sang Pop by American boy band
N Sync.
The singer moved to Wor-cester from Birmingham in 2008 and then went on to win Text Factor at Sin the following year.
He also mentored Malvern singing sensation Cher Lloyd for 10 weeks before she went on to X Factor.
To see how Gathan gets on, tune in to ITV1 tonight
at 8.10pm and tomorrow at 8pm.
