SHOPPERS visiting Evesham will be able to park in the town for three hours for just 20p.
The move, by Wychavon District Council, is part of a string of measures to ease the pressure on businesses during the rebuilding of Abbey Bridge.
Cheaper parking rates throughout the town will last for the 13 weeks that the bridge is closed – expected to be next summer.
The plans were revealed at the launch of the town’s new loyalty card, another measure that council chiefs are hoping will keep the town going while the work on the bridge is carried out.
Anyone using shops in Evesham can take part in the loyalty card scheme beginning officially on Monday.
Shaun Riley, Evesham Market Town Partnership manager, said: “We all know the next 12 months are going to be challenging, particularly when the bridge is being replaced. For that period we have reduced parking charges to 20p for three hours for the 13 weeks.”
