Off to flying start

SUPPORTERS of the Village Clock Appeal in Paxford have got off to a roaring start after raising a third of the money required over the weekend.

A quiz held at the Churchill Arms pub, along with raffle and tips money, raised £229 and a coffee morning on Saturday raised £300.

The 140-year-old clock on the church in the heart of the village stopped working about a year ago and villagers are now hoping to raise £1,500 to get it ticking again.

Villagers can look forward to the next fund-raiser on Thursday, October 25, at the Blockley Picturehouse. A screening of the hit movie The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel is being shown at 7.45pm and appeal committee members are organising the bar and raffle.
