Worcestershire girl makes date with TV matchmaker
12:30pm Saturday 13th October 2012 in Evesham By Steve Mather
A WORCESTERSHIRE girl currently appearing on a prime time Saturday night entertainment show says she is having the time of her life.
Pershore's Oli Adams, aged 18, was one of the starting line-up of 30 girls whom viewers saw begin the new series of popular dating programme Take Me Out last weekend.
After going along to the auditions for a “bit of a laugh”, she said she never dreamt she would make it to onto the show but is glad she took the opportunity.
“As the stages went on I met more girls and knew it would be so much fun,” said Miss Adams.
“I went to the auditions with my friend Beth as I could never do it alone.
“We had to dress up as much as possible so it was slightly nerve-wracking walking through Birmingham at midday looking like that. We had so many funny looks.
“We had to introduce ourselves, say our dating turn-offs and what we look for in a guy as well as embarrassing stories. It was nowhere near as bad as I thought it would be.”
The former Pershore High School student was working at the Angel Hotel in Pershore when she had the e-mail confirming she had a place as one of the “flirty 30”.
“I was nervous before filming the first show, mostly because of the live audience but I did get used to it and it’s just like a stage performance.
“The stairs are the worst thing. You are coming down them in massive heels in time to the music at a really fast pace, holding hands with the girl opposite so if there is an accident we would all fall like dominoes,” she added.
Miss Adams, who is currently studying law at Westminster University, said that she hated watching herself back on television but that the atmosphere on set is amazing and the host Paddy McGuinness was “brilliant” with all the girls.
Take Me Out continues on ITV1 tonight at 7pm.
