After the summer break, we were all keen to start the autumn programme, notices were given out and our demonstrator for the evening was Margaret Heal from Bridgwater in Somerset, her title was Garden Delights, she very cleverly used her skills in plant manipulation, bending flowers and leaves and then adding them to her splendid arrangements. Margaret had plenty of tales to tell about her years as a flower arranger and also about her son Nick, who is also a demonstrator, competitions that they had entered against each other, and who got the plant material first as she has a large farm and enormous borders full of Gardeners Delights.
The raffle was drawn and many members and visitors left with lovely arrangements as prizes. Club trip is to Sir Roy Strong’s garden, members are keen to visit his gardens, a first for many of us. Our next club meeting is on Wednesday October 15 at Peopleton village hall at 7.30pm. Our demonstrator will be Barbara Priest from Herefordshire. Do come along visitors always welcome, a relaxing couple of hours always ideas to try at home.
