The main show of Inkberrow and District Horticultural Society's programme was held at Inkberrow Village Hall on Saturday , September 6.

The glorious weather enjoyed this summer was not so kind when it came to exhibits as everything had peaked at least three weeks early so entries were severely depleted.

However it did mean that there was a beautiful display of dahlias much admired by the many visitors.

Chairman Gareth Edwards, thanked everyone for their support and called on the Society President, Mrs Pat Atkin, to present the trophies.

CUP WINNERS

Mike Crump won The Society Challenge Cup for the Flower section,The Society Cup for the Pot Plants and The Worrall Memorial Trophy for best in show with his container of perennials.

Gaby Allison won the Dormston Challenge Cup for the Rose Section and The Community Cup for Fruit.

Janet Alger's flower arrangements won her The Worrall Challenge Cup. Mike Mills was the winner of The W. Ganderton Cup for the Preserves,Cookery and Handicraft Classes and John Hopkins' eggs saw him claiming the Society Cup in that class.

Ken Welsh was the winner of four trophies: The Society Challenge Cup for vegetables,The Top Tray award,The Barnes Challenge Cup for the highest number of points in the show and the Banksian Medal for the highest number of points in the horticultural classes.

CHRIS SIDWELL
