THE Harvington Jubilee Orchard was officially opened in September, but far from resting on their laurels Harvington Trust are already planning additional ways to make it accessible to members of the community. An exercise trail is due to be installed in November, and the Trust would like to invite all those who enjoy exercise to go along and try something different. Harvington First School held its annual Harvest Festival in October, with every child in the school contributing in some way. Afterwards over 150 boxes were delivered to members of the community.

The September meeting of the Gardening Club were entertained with a talk on local birds that could be found in the garden, by Margaret and Peter Preece, who illustrated their talk with wonderful wildlife photographs.

Harvington Parish Council invites applications for the position of Community Greenspace Warden to inspect and maintain the Jubilee Orchard and the playing Fields. HATS (Harvington Amateur Theatrical Society) is back and coming to a Village Hall near you. If you have missed their performances during their absence, or if you have never seen them, but enjoy live performances, come and see their new production. ‘Break A Leg’ written especially for HATS will be playing on Thursday 20, Friday 21 and Saturday 22 November, tickets are £8 or £7 concessions, and advance bookings can be made on 871531.

Coming up: Harvington Cricket Club are hosting a Halloween party on Friday, October 31 from 5pm till late. There will be a BBQ, family games, music and a bar. Tickets are £5/family and are available from www.harvingtoncricketclub.com or pay on the door.

The Tree of Light will be switched on at St James’ Church after a short service at 5.30pm Sunday, November 2. There will also be a chance to light a candle in memory of loved ones who are no longer with us.

Tuesday November 4, the Walking Group will be out and about for a six-and-a-half mile walk around Otmoor and Islip. There will be a well-earned pub lunch at the end of the walk. Contact Trevor 871334.
