AT our meeting last Wednesday we were given a very interesting talk on Guide Dogs. Kate, who is both blind and deaf, brought along her assistant, Sally, and her guide dog, Wynn. Kate showed us some of the aides she uses to help her to cope with life - she has many problems that we who are more fortunate, do not even think about. One of the aides enabled her to identify different bank notes but she said her best aide was her dog, Wynn, who was also a hearing dog and alerted her to the door bell, telephone and fire alarm. We all felt rather humble by the way Kate copes with every day life and manages to get out and about but she said she would not be able to leave home without Wynn or a friend to assist her.

Our next meeting is on April 8 in the Congregational Church Hall at 2pm for 2.30pm when Mr Sam Kent will be giving the Club a talk on Tristan Da Cunha and then later in the month we will be going to Jersey on our first holiday of the year.
