We held our 24th Annual General Meeting at The Friends Meeting House, Cowl Street Evesham on Friday, March 20. The Meeting was chaired by Valerie Hamblin who welcomed members and thanked them for making such a lovely selection of cakes for the meeting.

She said that it had once again been a very interesting year with a great variety of speakers, including Arctic adventurers, Butlins Redcoats, a concert by the Lygonian Singers, a talk on The Elgin Marbles, etc. We had enjoyed a four day stay in Bournemouth in May, a cream tea at Hilliers Garden Centre which we hope to do again this year. A lunch was held at The Ecgwins Private Members Club, Evesham, when we said goodbye to Jess Fairs who was moving back to her hometown of Newcastle. She was a founder member of the Club and would be sadly missed as she had also been our Secretary for many years, but we would keep in touch. We had also been on a Tinsel and Turkey short break in Torquay in November where we all attending a special service to mark 100 years since the end of the first World War at the war memorial by the harbour in beautiful sunshine- very impressive. Our Christmas Lunch (paid for by the Club) was held at Evesham Golf Club in December where Jess Fairs joined us. Valerie said that the coming year would be just as interesting and reminded members that it would be the club’s 25th Anniversary in 2016 so we would have to celebrate this in a special way. The finances were in very good shape

Valerie would carry on as Chairman for another year and she thanked the retiring officers and committee members for their hard work during the year and was pleased that all committee members were willing to stay on the committee for another year with the addition of another member Hazel Bartlett.

Anyone wishing to join the club should contact Valerie Hamblin, 01789 772795. We meet fortnightly on Friday mornings at 10am when coffee is served, meetings starting at 10.30am until 11.40am. Our next meeting is Friday, April 10
