PLEASE join us for our final talk of our current programme on the fascinating subject of “The Battle of Evesham: Why we should remember it,” by Tim Porter on Friday, June19 at 7.30pm, at St. Laurence’s Church Hall, Bidford-on-Avon. 750 years ago, one of the briefest, but bloodiest battle in English history took place on our doorstep. The issue at stake was one of the biggest – rulers’ authority versus subjects’ rights. The leaders in question were two of the finest – Simon de Montfort versus the future King Edward I. This talk aims to take a fresh look at this momentous event and put it into a wider context, as one of the key events in a seminal period of our history. Our charge is £4.50 each visit for non-members. Admission is free for visitors aged 18 or under. Free refreshments are served after our talks.
