May saw our Annual Meeting when Jane Thompson was re-elected President for the second year. Our Worcestershire WI advisor, Sue White, who came along to oversee the meeting and election of committee and President, was full of praise for our WI saying she knew as soon as she came through the door and heard the hub of voices and laughter that it was indeed a friendly and welcoming WI. Our membership continues to increase almost monthly and we were more than pleased with the compliments paid us by our advisor. Following the business of the meeting a quiz, organised by Eileen Goodall, ended the meeting on a fun note, together with tea/coffee and yummy homemade cakes.

This month sees member Janie Lashford at the WI Garden Party hosted by Buckingham Palace in the presence of the Duchess of Cornwall and other royal dignitaries on June 2 and former President, Elizabeth Cudd, representing us at the Albert Hall on June 4 in the presence of Her Majesty the Queen, the Princess Royal and Countess of Wessex, all WI members. We await their reports on being present at these two auspicious events put on to help celebrate 100 years of the WI movement.

Our meeting in June is to be a garden meeting being held if the beautiful gardens of Sheila and Adrian James. Adrian is a well known garden and plant photographer who has travelled widely and regularly has work published in many magazines. Their garden has been a labour of love over the years and now is extremely beautiful every season of the year.

Our meetings are held on the second Wednesday of every month at Badsey Remembrance Hall starting at 7.15.pm. Anyone is welcome to come along as a visitor to see what we are all about and if you like us – join us!
