A WELCOME glass of Pims was offered to members when they entered the garden of Elaine and Mick Jeffrey for the Annual Garden Meeting. Walking round their lovely garden on a dry, if slightly chilly, evening was a delight and lovely refreshments were provided inside.

The business was conducted in a sheltered spot and two visitors were welcomed.

Wendi Bowron-Weller, Maggie Stedman & Anne Johnson were thanked for making the WI entry in the Scarecrow competition at the Open Gardens weekend. Helpers and contributors to the teas at this event were also thanked.

Gill Thomas shared her recent experiences at the Buckingham Palace Garden Party for the WI 100th year. Sue Peace reported on her and Yvonne Rose’s enjoyment at a WI organised Clay Pigeon shoot. Veronica Watson was pleased with the support and offers for an exhibition of WI talents to be set up at Party on the Park in September. She also updated members on the Knit & Natter to make 100 squares of knitting in time for the same event. These squares are to be sent to Africa for the local women to make into blankets. Thursday afternoon 11th at the home of Jenny McLeish in Friday Street is the first knit in.

A coach outing to Bath Christmas Market on November 26 is organised and some members will visit Compton Verney on the afternoon of June 18 to view the Canoletto exhibition. The competition for a decorated pot was won by Dawn Browning.

The skittles team are entered for the Group tournament on Friday, September 18.

The July meeting will be a visit from ‘Tropic’ Skincare and a ‘Swishing’ (clothes swop) will be held. Visitors are very welcome.
