WHAT a fantastic turnout for the Evesham Carnival the Deputy Mayor Cllr Alan Booth and I enjoyed the colourful spectacle. It goes without saying congratulations to Glen Lyon and his team for the obvious hard work they put into organizing the event. I must pay tribute to the shops who played their part by taking on the carnivals movie theme and dressing their windows appropriately, and a big thank you to members of our community, who turned out lining the carnival route to show their appreciation.

On Wednesday the Deputy Mayor, the Mayoress and I were invited by Working World to a lunch at Ferry View Sheltered Housing Complex, the meal was excellent. This is one local charity that in my opinion, does not receive the credit they should for their contribution to our community by helping people with learning disability gain work experience.

Saturday June 13 I attended the "AsparaWriting Festival (short story) event held in the Town Library. I was very impressed by the writing of Alasdair Jones his short story "Death Is My Brother" is a real cracking story.

To date I have been invited to the following events for June: Wednesday 18 St Egwins CE Middle School Sports awards; Friday 19 Rooftops Official Opening of Yates Courts and BUPA Nursing Home Broadway "Open Day"; Sunday 21 "National Morris Festival" in the Market Place; Tuesday 23 "Summer Prom" Prince Henry's School; Wednesday 24 Evesham Festival of Music "Young Musician of the Year"; Sunday 28 "John Martins Commemoration Service" St Andrews Church Hampton; Tuesday 30 "The Art Show" Prince Henry's High School.

So a busy time ahead.
