WE have had a very busy few weeks since our last report with some of our events having a very royal connection. This is the WI Centenary Year and there are a number of celebrations.

One of the highlights was a Royal Garden Tea Party and Joan Green represented our WI at this prestigious event: Joan said she had a lovely time at Buckingham Palace. 8,000 women attended, the Beefeaters escorted the Royals to the tea and bands played all afternoon. There was another royal visit at the National Federation WI Annual Meeting held at Royal Albert Hall early in June. The Queen was in attendance with other members of the Royal Family, and Anne Angood representing outer local Group and Cynthia Mortimer as an observer. The royal theme was continued with our regular cooking workshop at the school: the theme was the Coronation and the children enjoyed a coronation tea of sandwiches, jelly and of course, coronation chicken.

Other activities this last month have included a lunch & 'asparagus' talk at Revills, helping out at the WI Marquee at the Royal 3 Counties Show, organising an Afternoon Tea for the Hampton Walking Group, a Committee meal at Whistlers and co-ordinating the school's Moon Walk. What a busy month ...... oh! Of course we had our monthly meeting. This was a talk and exhibit of Bags & Dolls by Debbie Ackroyd. Members enjoyed her talk and found her dolls quite exquisite! All hand made & all different.

Coming up in July, we are looking forward to a social skittles evening, helping at Eckstock and of course our next meeting. This will be on Wednesday, July 1, 7.30pm. We are pleased to have Mr Ian Parsons, Vice President of the British Orchid Society, presenting a talk on Orchids.
