HARVINGTON Singers gave their annual Summer Concert in St James Church on Friday, June 26 and Saturday, June 27. The varied programme ranged from British and American folk songs through music by Rutter and songs from Cabaret and Oliver to Bohemian Rhapsody. A particular highlight was the excellent solo performance by Ben Atkinson playing the Saxophone and later the Clarinet. The audience much appreciated his prodigious talent. The sun shone and allowed strawberries and wine to be served outside during the interval.

The June meeting of the Gardening Club was an outside event, as the group enjoyed an evening in a wonderful garden open through the NGS - The Croft, Haselor. The next meeting is on Wednesday, July 22 in the Village Hall when Gary Farmer is taking the group Wildlife Watching on English Islands. Contact Libby 871531.

The July CAMEO Teas (Come And Meet Each Other) were a return match hosted by Year 5 of Harvington First School. The regular members of CAMEO Teas and the pupils enjoyed sharing tea and cake and continuing the friendships that began in June. Year 5 were brilliant hosts and kept everyone well fed and supplied with tea on the hottest day of the year so far. But even with the heat their guests had to work by answering a quiz about Victorian inventions, the answers to which were on a series of beautifully produced posters. They were also great entertainers, giving CAMEO a preview of the presentation of music through the decades with performances of songs by The Beatles and Abba. Year 5 have been very busy recently with a visit to St Egwin’s School, where they will be continuing their education next academic year, and getting through to the South Worcestershire Tag Rugby finals. They played six other schools and won every match and brought home a trophy.
