I GLADLY accepted an invite from the staff and pupils of Bredon Middle School to attend the Awards Assembly. It was an enjoyable, and I might add an educational two hours of entertainment and learning of the achievements of young pupils. I understand that Bredon began as a secondary school back in the 60's but is officially designated now as a middle school, and is a feeder school for Prince Henry's.

The Deputy Mayor (Cllr Alan Booth) and I attended an informal meeting with the Manager and Trustees of the Evesham Shopmobility. The centre also make a contribution to our local economy by providing equipment to visitors to Evesham through advanced bookings. This is such a worthwhile charity I have decided to add them to the list of Evesham Town Mayor's Charities for 2015/16. Take the opportunity to call in and have a chat to the Manager (Amanda Walker) even if you don't need to hire a mobility scooter, they are at the top level of the Mulity-Storey Car Park it's well worth a visit, you never know when you or your family/friends young and elderly will need their services.

I have for many years been proactive along with many colleagues both locally and nationally in speaking up for older people regarding their concerns and aspirations within their respective communities, so I did not have to think twice, when asked to meet residents of our local Ferry View Sheltered Housing complex recently. Bearing mind that on average, around one in three women and one in five men aged 65 or over will enter care home/sheltered housing at some point in the future, it's important we do not forget members of of our community who are are at that point of their lives now, plan ahead for the future by all means, but we must not forget what is happening around us today.

I was invited to open the Garden Fete at St Andrews Church Hampton, as always it was fantastic to see so many members of our community coming together, and seeing the young enjoying the day having their faces painted, Emma Goodge did offer to to improve my face, but I quickly declined.

The Mayoress and I attended the Charity Concert - "Celebrate America at the Evesham Arts Centre produced by the Vale Harmony and Vale Connection it was an evening of music and song with guests The Redditch Orchestra, and the compere was Michael Collie from BBC Midlands Today.

All the proceeds going to St Richards Hospice, Leukaemia Care and the Evesham Bell Tower Appeal.
