AT our Summer Social on August 25, members and visitors enjoyed some excellent musical entertainment followed by afternoon tea. The Mayor, Fred Kaler, welcomed everyone and then John Dale entertained us with a selection of songs from the 1920's through to the 1960's with amusing comments in between. The audience were encouraged to sing along, participate and even try to whistle. It was a really enjoyable performance.

Afterwards there was a tasty selection of sandwiches, sausage rolls, cakes and scones with cream and jam, washed down with tea and coffee. The ladies who did the catering are to be congratulated for all their hard work in making this such a memorable afternoon.

Our meetings take place on the fourth Tuesday of each month at 1.30 pm at the Town Hall. In September we will be having fish and chips followed by a talk by Charlie Homer. All are welcome but those people wanting the fish and chips must let us know beforehand so we can order sufficient.

Our voluntary knitters (K2TOG) are currently making Twiddle Muffs for people with dementia and would welcome any donations of wool.
