THE August meeting was our Summer Show, when once again our members supported and surprised everyone with the fine quality of produce, flowers and not least, their baking skills. Judging by our President, Tiny Hadley and Chairman, Colin Hill, was painstakingly undertaken, culminating in their favourite part of the evening, the tasting of the Lemon Drizzle cakes! After much deliberation, consultation and more tasting the eventual winners were Barbara Bennett in 3rd place, Bernice Simms who came second, and our overall winner was Sheila Taylor, who was awarded the Banksie Medal for her fine efforts. During the judging an entertaining quiz took place with much hilarity and sharing of knowledge. As a surprise to our unsuspecting judges they were complemented on their professionalism and skill by a guest of one of the committee members who just happened to be an RHS judge.

Our next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, September 23 at 7.30pm in the Memorial Hall when, due to unforeseen circumstances, a change of speaker has been arranged. Terry Sparrow has kindly stepped into the breach and is giving a talk on Market Gardening in the Vale. Thank you Terry. For further information please contact Dorothy 01386 830834 or any committee member.
