THIS month's speaker at the monthly meeting of Evesham & District U3A was Sophie Price, from Age UK.

This talk gave us some interesting facts about the work of Herefordshire and Worcestershire Age UK. It was pointed out that Age UK will offer their support to anyone over the age of 50. The services provide specific help with power of attorney, wills, benefits etc. and also encompass practical support such as "Home from Hospital" helping a patient who has been released back into the home after a spell in hospital.

Sophie also told members about Reconnections. A programme aimed at tackling loneliness amongst older people living in Worcestershire. This new venture will provide tailored one to one support for lonely people which will enable them to connect with local activities and reduce their feelings of loneliness.

Next month's meeting, November 4, is the Annual Open Day at the Town Hall, from 12 noon until 3pm.

If you are retired or semi-retired come and find out about the many activities and groups ranging from Archaeology to Yoga. Joining the U3A is an excellent way to meet people and make new friends.
