THE In Bloom committee and its many volunteers, has been very busy over the past few weeks, preparing for Christmas and making sure the village looks at its best. While nearly 30 volunteers cleared leaves from the churchyard and Town Pool car park at the end of November others lead by Richard Weller managed to secure a very large owl box in the tallest tree in the churchyard. Two more owl boxes will soon be erected in different areas as part of the In Bloom conservation programme. Winter pansies have been planted in the entrance troughs and regular litter picks are taking place.A sell- out Christmas wreath-making workshop with Sarah Malleson resulted in some stunning wreaths made from natural material gathered in the village and now displayed on many Pebworth front doors. Despite high winds and threatening rain the annual lighting of the Christmas tree attracted nearly 50 residents of all ages to sing carols together and warm themselves with mulled wine and mince-pies in St Peter’s church. And to bring Pebworth in Bloom’s gold-winning year to a close the “Christmas Bop”, raising funds to repair church paths was another resounding success with music from the village’s own “F Street Band”.
