THE March meeting began with the singing of ‘Jerusalem’. Matters arising from the previous meeting were reviewed.

The Yarn Bombing group has started work and we were shown pompoms and knitted bunting and were encouraged to get involved. ‘Clean for the Queen’ had been very successful with Ebrington, the Hidcotes and Charingworth being enthusiastically tackled and now litter free.

We were reminded about the Group Meeting on April 11. There is a seaside theme for the craft display, ‘The end of the Pier’ and a hand-made glove puppet must be included. Jean Jones has already created a magnificent crocodile complete with snapping jaws.

Our Institute is always ready to contribute to other organisations’ events and we were asked for cakes for the Ebrington School PTFA Spring Fair and for

the SMA Trust Cotswold Way Walk.

During the meeting our “Maori House” was circulated. The model house is used to collect funds for Associated Country Women of the World (ACWW) to which we are affiliated. ACWW supports communities and women world-wide, particularly in developing countries. In addition to the regular funds generated by our monthly meeting book stall we have also donated foreign currency and broken or unwanted jewellery.

Unfortunately, our speaker was indisposed, however we enjoyed an unexpected treat with the showing of a DVD of the Ebrington Music Hall Concert from November 2014, part of the village commemorations for World War 1. Our President’s husband Martin Halls had worked non-stop to put the disc together when it was realised we had no speaker and we greatly enjoyed the result of his hard work, particularly the concert’s finale featuring Martin and President Chrissie serenading each other on a tandem with “Daisy, Daisy”.

Our next meeting with be April 14 and we welcome prospective members and visitors.
