MEMBERS have just returned from a wonderful holiday in Ireland. Following an early start on Sunday we made our way through North Wales to Holyhead in time for the afternoon sailing to Dublin. Following a calm crossing we made our way to the Plaza Hotel for our first night. On Monday we travelled across Ireland through wonderful scenery, before stopping in Enniskillen. We then followed the shore of Lough Erne before arriving at the Central Hotel, Donegal where we stayed the next three nights. The first night we were given free punch drinks as a welcome. On Tuesday we went on a lovely scenic tour through the Barnesmore Gap before entering the rugged landscape of the Glenveagh National Park. We then followed the Atlantic coast to the fishing villages of Dongloe and Killybegs where we watched the fishing boats landing their catch. On Wednesday we made our way to Belleek Pottery where you can learn how the unique pieces are made using traditional methods passed down from generation to generation. On leaving the pottery we continued through forest and lakeland scenery to Bundoran. After a break we went on to Sligo where we had the chance to walk around the town or just sit by the river. Leaving Sligo we followed Lough Erne back to Donegal. On Thursday we returned to Dublin where we were given a marvellous city tour before returning to our overnight hotel. On Friday following breakfast we boarded the early ferry and once again we had a lovely calm crossing. The holiday was made even more enjoyable as our Tour Guide was extremely knowledgeable and pointed out many things we would probably have missed.
