OUR AGM and Resolutions meeting began with a short talk by Professor Pettifer, whose grandmother was one of the founding members of Pershore WI. He had been able to identify some of the women in a photograph we have of the committee in the early days. He gave an interesting talk about his family and his childhood in Pershore. Beth Milsom thanked him for coming and for the information he had been able to give us.

There then followed a short business meeting. Beth reported on the very successful stall we had at Tiddesley Wood Open Day, where, with the help of an award from the Heritage Lottery Fund, we gave away seed potatoes and samples of WWI cake! Ann Elliott and Helen Rowe then talked about the resolutions “avoid food waste and address food poverty” and “appropriate care in hospitals for people with dementia”, both of which provoked much discussion.

After a break for delicious cakes with tea and coffee Audrey Whitehead opened the Annual General Meeting. The Treasurer and Secretary gave their reports, then the President brought the meeting to a conclusion with her report of a very successful and busy year. Plans are well in hand for us to continue to celebrate our centenary throughout the rest of the year, the highlight being our centenary celebration at the abbey in November.

The next meeting is on Thursday June 9 at 7.30pm in Wulstan Hall, Priest Lane. This will be an informal members night, and as always visitors are very welcome.
