GOOD company combined with delicious food and interesting games made for a very enjoyable members' evening this month. It began with the business meeting, in which we discussed various forthcoming events, including a coffee morning at the Town Hall on Saturday July 9.

Our annual garden party took place in Maureen Speight's garden on the Tuesday before the meeting, and Audrey Whitehouse thanked her for organising a very pleasant afternoon. Everyone brought a cake, and Maureen provided tea and scones, cream and jam which we ate seated in her lovely garden, with perfect weather for the occasion too!

The business meeting was concluded with a reminder of our outing to No.8 to see “Anything Goes” performed by PODS the following Monday. We then enjoyed the delicious supper to which everyone had contributed and had a go at various games, which included making a crown with card, paper and various decorative bits and pieces. The winner was Ann Elliot with her ingenious use of raffle tickets for decoration. The winners of the month's competition for a woollen item were: 1st Eileen Rampke, 2nd Jean O'Loughlin and 3rd Angela Griffiths. The evening concluded with the draw for the various raffle prizes.

The next meeting is on Thursday July 14, when Dr O'Loghlen will talk on “Travels in Tibet” at 7.30pm in Wulstan Hall, Priest Lane. New members always welcome!
