FANTASTIC FETE SUCCESS

Hundreds flocked to Bishampton’s Bish Bosh Bash summer fete at St. James’ Church on Saturday 16 July to enjoy an afternoon of fun and frivolity, raising thousands of pounds in the process.

Visitors were treated to entertainment by Worcester Concert Brass and five Pebworth Morris men, while they dranks gallons of tea and coffee and ate cakes of every variety to rival any bake-off.

Children enjoyed face painting, skittles, football, making floral headbands, and the general traditional feel of the village fete. Mums, dads and grandparents rmeanwhile, revelled in perusing the goods on offer at the many stalls including having a go at guessing the weight of the cake, trying their hand at the wheel of fortune, the cryptic quiz, or the grand raffle. Fabulous floral displays throughout the whole of the church followed a nursery theme and will be on display for the next week or so.

Proud dog owners paraded their pets in the arena, while car enthusiasts indulged their passions, whether vintage or streamlined, from the seven on display from a sit-up-and-beg 1906 Rover to a purring scarlet Ferrari.

Martin Dickinson who organised the event said he was immensely proud of what had been achieved. “We were delighted that so many people came – and quite a few from some miles away too – the atmosphere was just perfect throughout the whole afternoon.

“Whilst we’re still doing our sums, we’re hoping that the event has raised a substantial amount of money which will go towards the running of the church and making more improvements to the facilities for the benefit of the whole community. I would like to thank everyone involved including those who came along, to make it such a resounding success.”
