On July 19 some of our members went on a coach trip to Cirencester including an optional guided walk round the town.
On July 26 our general meeting was held at the Town Hall and we were delighted to welcome our Life Member, Mr. F. Sodeau, whose wife Lilian had founded the Evesham and District Pensioners' Association way back in the early 1990's. Two of the original members, Kay Merriman and Jean Blomfield were also present.
Jenny Johnson, Chair, advised members about the advent of Smart meters for gas and electricity and read out some information about them.
The problem of wastage of prescribed medicines was also discussed and members asked to think about ways in which this can be tackled. Also, Jenny spoke about how people can become dementia friends and the fact that Evesham is set to become a dementia friendly town shortly.
Members were reminded about the various scams going on and the importance of being vigilant when using computers, answering the phone and speaking to doorstep callers.
After the formal part of the meeting, members played bingo, had the raffle and enjoyed tea and cakes and the chance to socialise.
