AT OUR August meeting we were given a talk and slide show by Maurice Heritage who has been a volunteer at Snowshill Manor for 26 years. He gave us a brief history of the estate, told us about Charles Wade who bought the property in 1919 and filled it with his collection of objects. Charles Wade was an architect, poet and illustrator who had from an early age been interested in how things were made.

Mr Heritage gave us a guided tour of the house with the use of the screen and his extensive knowledge. He told us the name of each room and pointed out the most interesting items, with sometimes amusing and perceptive comments along the way. He mentioned some of the problems of maintaining a property like Snowshill Manor and looking after the collection.

It was an informative and highly entertaining talk and many members commented on how much they had enjoyed it.

On 19 August the launch of the attempt to make Evesham a Dementia Friendly Town took place. Some of our members have already taken part in the training to become Dementia Friends and we hope many others will take the opportunity of the further training sessions arranged. It is free and only takes an hour.

In September we will be starting our meeting with fish and chips before the rest of the activities. Please let us know if you wish to order fish and chips and let us have your money!

Other members are welcome to just come along as usual and enjoy the rest of the afternoon. We look forward to seeing you all.
