ANDREW Robson’s talk, about “Living and coping with Arthritis”, proved a hot topic at this month’s U3A meeting in Pershore, drawing a packed audience. Andrew described how his own experience of chronic back pain, as a result of incorrect rowing posture as a teenager, sparked his interest in training to be a Chiropractor later in life. Surprised at the success of his own treatment at the hands of a Chiropractor, Andrew decided to turn his back on a successful career in advertising to retrain as a Chiropractor himself. After working in a successful practice in Swindon, Andrew has returned to Worcestershire to set up his own clinic.

Through a series of anonymous case studies, Andrew outlined the causes of osteoarthritis and explained how, with treatment, healthy nutrition and appropriate exercise, sufferers can return to enjoying an active and fulfilling lifestyle. A lively question and answer session followed with advice on beneficial food types, food supplements, exercise and surgical replacements.

Andrew enjoys helping improve people’s lives. He is also interested in finding out how and why injuries occur and what prevents an individual from recovering. In this way he can better help people avoid long-term pain and discomfort in the first place and enjoy their lives to the full.

Next month, Michael Chapman Pincher explains how “One job leads to another” or “How to survive when you are fired at 55” on Tuesday 18th October at 2-15pm at the Civic Centre in Pershore.
